| | | | | | Dear members:
Thank you for helping make GreenEconomyChicago’s first year so successful. Since our launch last May 22nd we have grown to 3000 users, 500 of which have collaborated on one or more policy ideas. Most importantly, we have learned a great deal about our community and how to best empower our members’ policy suggestions. Now we are ready to take the next step:
This summer, we will launch Green Economy Chicago (GEC) 2.0 to provide a stronger framework for citizen-driven sustainability policy.
GEC 2.0 will operate on a quarterly cycle, starting with a call for ideas. Finalists will be selected through a social voting process, and GEC’s panel of experts will choose the strongest idea and award it with a ‘policy suite’ — which includes an advocacy campaign based on formal letters to policymakers and in-person conversations with GEC’s extensive network of ‘green’ leaders.
Before the re-launch we must close GEC’s first voting cycle—and for that we need your help. GreenEconomyChicago is asking all of our loyal members to vote on their favorite posted policy idea. When we close the voting June 1st, the policy idea with the most votes will receive GEC’s very first ‘policy suite’.
Currently, the three most popular submissions (based on interest, social rating and collaboration) are:
• Require Energy Efficiency Rating for Sale of Home (Peter Locke) • Chicago Commuter Benefits Ordinance (Jim Drew) • Add Transit-Oriented Development Designation to Chicago Zoning Code (Lee Crandell)
You only have until June 1st to vote for one of these three policies, or for any of the other 65 ideas currently posted. This summer we will announce the winner and launch GEC 2.0!
Thank you for your participation. Please bookmark and visit GreenEconomyChicago.com for other exciting developments.
